The office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (AA) is running a programme for nurturing the next generation of academics this is in line with the strategic plan in which Makerere University aims at being a research-led university. Part of the programme focuses on staff that completed Ph.D. studies in recent times. Under this arrangement, graduates of Ph.D studies are availed opportunity to make public, findings from their doctoral research. The seminar series are an opportunity for the public to access information about the latest findings and developments in the particular presenter's area of expertise.  The following are the conferences in series that have been held so far.

11th PhD Dissemination Series by Dr. Robert Wamala

Dr. Robert Wamala-CoBAMS presented the 11th PhD Dissemination SeriesThe Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs (DVCAA) held the 11th PhD Dissemination series on 14th March 2014. The topic of the day “Do UNEB results predict competencies required to excel academically in Law School?” promised a good intellectual debate and indeed drew stakeholders from the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), Office of the Academic Registrar, Makerere University as well as Staff, Students and members of the general public. 10th Research Dissemination Seminar Series by Dr. Ronald Bisaso

Ninth PhD Seminar Series - Dr. Frank Mwine

Eight PhD Seminar Series

The eighth seminar in the series will feature Mr. Robert Wamala from the School of Statistics, College of Business and Management Sciences, Makerere University. Mr. Wamala will make a presentation entitled:  “Likelihood of Completion and Extended Candidature of a Ph.D: A Five-year Analysis of Studies at Makerere UniversityThe seminar is scheduled  to take place on Friday 18th November, 2011, Time: 2.30 p.m – 5.00 p.m

Seventh PhD Seminar Series - Dr. Andrew Muganga Kizito

Dr. Andrew MugangaOn Friday November 11, 2011, the seventh PhD Seminar in the series featured Dr. Andrew Muganga Kizito from the School of Statistics, College of Business and Management Studies, Makerere University. Dr. Muganga made a presentation entitled: “Economics of Information and Its Implications for Agricultural Market Information Systems Design and Impact.”
Dr. Fred Muhumuza, Economic Advisor from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He commended Dr. Muganga for choosing the agricultural market information sector to conduct his research, observing that this was a relatively untapped sector. Dr Muhumuza also congratulated him on the ascension in his academic career by attaining a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
